Our "little cabin" on Cherry Mountain

After nearly a year in construction -- not because it is a big, grand house, but because of hurricanes, materials shortages, and hunting season -- our mountain home is finally done. We spent a few weeks here in April and again in August. But the best news is that we are going to move to the mountain at the end of Sept. and stay until March or April--the exact oppostire of what Floridians usually do!

I've added some photos of the lower level guest room and some more recent photos of the exterior. And for those of you who plan to visit us I've included a MAP that will lead you to our door, which is always open to our family and friends.

Cheers, Billie & Earle

Twin beds will accommodate unmarried guests and we can push them together for you old married folks. The back stairs up to the second story deck really change the view from the side of the house.
We finally got our driveway paved so we wouldn't get stuck in the clay. This photo of the retaining wall gives an idea of the steepness of the driveway. It can be scarey!
With its pine siding and burgundy metal roof and shutters, we think the house fits well in the environment. There's no landscaping yet, but we plan to plant a few trees.
This is the view of the back of the house taken from the road below.
We have a Craftsman theme going with the door and light fixtures.
The foyer from inside shows off the details of the front door.

The living room orients to the fireplace and the TV. The mantle is a solid chunk of walnut. The doors lead to the deck.
This photo shows the windows, which don't photograph well in daylight.
The main living space is all one big room. The dining area is next to the kitchen, behind the living room.
The stairwell leads to the as yet unfinished lover level. It has another bedroom and full bath, a rec room with small kitchen area, 1-car garage and workshop space.
We went with stainless appliances and quartz countertops (Cambria). We love it.
We have a little bar cabinet and glassware cabinet.Laundry and pantry are on left.
The master bedroom is on main level. There is also another bedroom/den on this level.
Closed door is the closet, open door the master bath.
Hall bath
Deck is 52 feet long by 10 feet wide with 28 feet under roof.
This is what we came here for. We can see Lake Chatuge in Georgia and many mountain ranges.
Even in stormy weather the view from the deck is stunning.
